Classes often run about 15 minutes beyond their scheduled end. Registered students are welcome to attend as many classes as they like during the period of their registration.
Classes are held whenever the YMCA is open, and are rarely canceled.
The Y is closed on Labor Day, Christmas Day, and for the evening on Thanksgiving and Christmas eve.
In addition, the Y closes for about a week each year late in the summer for maintenance.
Directions to the Towson YMCA.
Observing a class (as a prospective student, parent, or guest)
Directions to the Towson YMCA From the traffic circle at Towson Center, get directly onto Allegheny Ave. Go west about 0.5 miles. The entrance to the YMCA parking lot is on the left shortly after the stop sign. Watch for the ground-level YMCA sign.
Location of the dojo in the Y The dojo (training hall) is in the Physical Arts Studio, in the main building, downstairs and through a door at the back, right corner of the basketball courts.
Observing a class (as a prospective student, parent, or guest) Observers are welcome to watch what we do. Please send an e-mail to Hanshi McCurdy (for a Monday class) or Scott Finley (for Sensei Klara) (for a Saturday class) introducing yourself so they know to expect you. Our dojo is small and does not have a seating section, so observers do need to be prepared to sit on the floor.
Trying a class Prospective students (at least 10 years old) are welcome to join a class to experience what we do. Please send an e-mail to Hanshi McCurdy (for a Monday class) or Scott Finley (for Sensei Klara) (for a Saturday class) introducing yourself so they know to expect you. Please dress appropriately in long, loose-fitting pants and a shirt that you're not too attached to. If you have a gi (uniform) please wear it, even if it's a different color or style than the white judo gi that we use.
Registering for classes The YMCA charges lower rates for members than non-members. Members also receive discounts on other Y programs and have access to the fitness equipment and the pool. See the Y of Central Maryland web site for details and (for members) online registration. Non-members should register for classes at the YMCA front desk.
Sessions last about 8 weeks. The rates for a session (paid to the Y) are in the following table. Registered students are welcome to attend as many classes as they like (class normally meets 3x per week) during the period of their registration.
| Adult member | $80.00 |
| Youth member (10 - 17 years old) | $68.00 |
| Adult non-member | $140.00 |
| Youth non-member (10 - 18 years old) | $119.00 |
